RESEARCH CONTEXT
PT-141 (bremelanotide) and melanocortin receptors
PT-141, also known as bremelanotide, is a cyclic heptapeptide and metabolite of melanotan II. It is studied in preclinical research as a melanocortin-receptor agonist, with particular attention to MC3R and MC4R and their role in central signalling pathways.
Unlike melanotan II, PT-141 has virtually no affinity for MC1R, the receptor central to pigmentation models. That shift in receptor profile is precisely why both molecules are often tested side by side.
Each batch is HPLC-verified and accompanied by an independent analysis certificate with mass-spectrometry identity confirmation.
