RESEARCH CONTEXT
Bacteriostatic water for peptide reconstitution
Bacteriostatic water is sterile water with 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. That makes it suitable for multi-dose use: the vial can be punctured multiple times without microbial growth immediately compromising the solution.
For lyophilized peptides, the reconstitution step is decisive for the reliability of your results. Let the water run down the vial wall rather than directly onto the peptide cake, and swirl gently — shaking can denature the peptide chain.
Calculate your volumes in advance with our peptide calculator, so your concentration per unit is fixed before you puncture the vial.
