RESEARCH CONTEXT
Melanotan II in melanocortin research
Melanotan II is a cyclic analogue of α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone that broadly binds melanocortin receptors, including MC1R. In in-vitro models the MC1R-mediated melanogenesis in melanocyte cultures is primarily studied.
Its broad receptor profile makes MT-2 a useful counterpart to the more selective PT-141: by testing both in the same setup, the contribution of MC1R activation to an observed effect can be delineated.
The peptide is light-sensitive. Store the lyophilized vial in the dark and limit exposure to ambient light after reconstitution.
