What is IGF-1 LR3 studied for?

IGF-1 LR3 is a synthetic analogue of insulin-like growth factor 1 with reduced binding to IGF-binding proteins, resulting in a longer biological half-life. Preclinical research uses it to study IGF-1 receptor activation, anabolic signalling and tissue regeneration.

IGF-1 receptor signalling and PI3K/Akt pathways
Models for skeletal muscle hypertrophy
Research on cell proliferation and protein synthesis
Studies on neuronal survival and regeneration

RESEARCH CONTEXT

IGF-1 LR3: an extended analogue of IGF-1

IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 IGF-1) is an analogue of insulin-like growth factor 1 with an extended 13-amino-acid N-terminal sequence and an arginine substitution at position 3. These changes strongly reduce affinity for IGF-binding proteins, leaving a larger fraction of free peptide available in cell culture.

In in-vitro models it is used to study IGF-1R signalling, PI3K/Akt activation and cellular proliferation — often as a complement to experiments with GH secretagogues, which act indirectly on the same axis.

IGF-1 LR3 is more sensitive to pH and temperature than the shorter peptides in our range. Store lyophilized at low temperature and avoid shaking after reconstitution.
